Just verify on the spreadsheet what note triggers what sound than double-right-click the piano keys in Reaper to name them accordingly, as I described in post #4. I wasn't aware that you were rather looking for the former.īut now as all needed things are present, it's easy to build a complete Reaper drum map for EZ drummer from the spreadsheet. That's how they are referrenced here also: The text files I linked to for importing into Reaper to get the named piano keys. A chart shown where each sound is to be found (the keyboard layout thingie) The term "drum map" can (in my understanding) mean 2 different things: At least I can get started making drum tracks. Thanks again for directing me to a list of which piano notes make which sounds. But first I need to know what a drum map is and what you do with it. If I built one I absolutely would share it in what you call the "stash," which I didn't even know existed until a moment ago.

I can't even build a drum track yet.īaby steps: What is a drum map? It's not the colorful keyboard layout thingie shown in google docs? I'm just trying to learn what sounds are available in EZD. No?īuilding a drum map is beyond me for now. I thought what I was asking for is a drum map: A picture that shows which piano keys make which sounds. I thought the spreadsheet in google docs IS the drum map. I'm a midi nwb and the learning curve makes me nauseous. Once home this evening I'll check the spreadsheet against actual sound in EZD and report back. Perhaps if you build drum maps from this information you will upload to the stash for us?Ĭy, many thanks. can i configure reaper to fill in that text box with the name of the ez drummer sample mapped to that key? then i could see where the left and right hits are located, etc. How do i configure the reaper midi editor piano roll to show the name of the ez drummer samples that each key plays? in the piano roll view there appears to be wide text box preceding each piano key. Problem is trying to distinguish a left hit from a right hit by the sound isn't possible because the difference between them is so subtle. Short rolls sound more realistic when alternating left and right hits rather than using only left hits or only right hits. for example flams sound more realistic when they consist of a left plus right hit, not two left hits or two right hits. Once the overall drum part is correct i want to tweak some of the hits. just to get the track finished and the performance correct. To complete the track quickly i use the same snare hit for everything, the same tom hit for everything, etc.

i build tracks note by note using piano roll, sometimes using a groove clip as a starting point and then edit the clip to my liking. I run windows 7 64bit, reaper 64bit, ez drummer 64bit. I know ez drummer will be updated to ez drummer 2 in a few days.
